PROGRAMS

DDS SERVICES

DRN is a qualified provider agency for the State of CT Department of Developmental Disabilities. We are authorized to provide the following services to individuals who are 21 years of age with a developmental disability and have been approved to receive services through DDS: Day Program, Individual Day Support, Individual Home Support, and Personal Support. 

Day Program

​Day support programs operate Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm with transportation occurring before and after program. The services and supports offered lead to the acquisition, improvement, and/or retention of skills and abilities to prepare an individual for work and/or community participation, or support meaningful socialization, leisure, and retirement activities. All staff members work under the guidance of an LPN and a visiting RN. This service is provided out of our facilities specifically designed and renovated with day programs in mind as well as take place in the community.

​Individual Day Support

These supports are tailored to the needs and personal outcomes of a specific individual with a focus on community participation. This individual works 1 on 1 with a staff member. This service is based out of the consumers home in place of being run in a day program and generally takes place in the community.  The individual will not be in a group with other consumers.

Individual Home Support

Staff provides the assistance necessary to meet the individual’s day-to-day activity and daily living needs and to reasonably assure adequate support at home and in the community to carry out personal outcomes. Prompting and supervision of activities is included. These services take place in the individuals home or in the community. 

Personal Support

Staff will provide the assistance necessary to meet the individual’s day-to-day activity and daily living needs. They will reasonably assure adequate support at home and in the community to carry out personal outcomes. Prompting and supervision of activities is included. These services take place in the individuals home or in the community. 

ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM

The alternative education program is a daily school program Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm. The program is for students currently enrolled in middle school or high school between the ages of 14 to 21 years old who wish to be out placed from their local school. Students eligible to attend will be placed in a PPT meeting with their school's Board of Education approval. The program is taught by Special Education teachers and teacher assistants. Students are still allowed to participate in specialized activities (ex: prom, graduation) and sports team of their home district. ​


The program includes the following:
  • Daily school program with certified teachers
  • One to one tutoring services
  • Liaison with court and probation services
  • Independent Living Skills lessons
  • Vocational Assessments and Career Counseling
  • Post High School education and employment planning
  • Recreational outings such as movies, baseball games, picnics
  • Benefits counseling for SSI, BRS, etc
  • Driver's license lessons
