Department of Developmental Services

DDS provides services for individuals with intellectual disabilities. 

To be eligible for DDS services:
  • Must be a resident of the state of CT
  • Have an intellectual disability as defined by CT General Statute Section 1-1g OR have a diagnosis of Prader-Willi Syndrome
  • People with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder but not intellectual disabilities may be eligible for services from the Autism Spectrum Disorder Program.

Bureau of Rehabilitation Services

BRS helps persons with significant physical and/or mental disabilities prepare, find, advance and keep jobs.

To be eligible for BRS services:
  • Have a physical or mental disability
  • Disability causes issues at work
  • Disability makes it difficult to find or keep a job
  • Some of the BRS benefits may help prepare for, get a job, and keep it
Level Up Program:
  • Enrolled student ages 16-22
  • eligible for special education services or related services
  • you are an individual with a disability for purposes of section 504
Legally Blind:
  • You can obtain VR services through the Bureau of Education and Services for the Blind (BESBE)
